1826 Founded by James Robertson
1845 Second (present) distillery built
1848 Prince Albert (residing at Balmoral) visited the distillery – Royal Warrant given
1860 First Lochnagar closed down
1906 Renovated
1916 Purchased by John Dewar & Sons Ltd
1925 Acquired by Distiller Company Ltd (DCL)
1930 Scottish Malt Distillers Ltd. (SMD)
1963 Reconstructed
2008 Royal Lochnagar Moscatel finish released

Situated close to Balmoral on Deeside, at one time host to several distilleries, but now just this one.

January - February Monday - Friday: 10am - 4pm
Tours: 11am, 12.30pm, 2pm and 3pm
March Monday - Saturday: 10am - 4pm
Tours: 11am, 12.30pm, 2pm and 3pm
April - October Monday - Saturday: 10am - 5pm
Sunday: 11.30 - 5pm
Tours are available throughout the day with one always leaving on the hour, the last tour leaves at 4pm.
November - December Monday - Saturday: 10am - 4pm
Tours: 11am, 12.30pm, 2pm and 3pm
Comments Children under 8 years are welcome but are not admitted to the production areas.
Admission charge £6.00
Location Located just south of the River Dee on the B976 which can be approached from Ballater or from Crathie on the A93, the main Braemar to Aberdeen road.
