1921 Ian Hunter takes over
1923 2 new stills added
1954 Bessie Williamson inherits distillery
1960s Sold to Long John International
1990 Purchased by Allied Domecq
1994 Prince Charles visits and hands over Royal Warrant 
2005 Taken over by Fortune Brands Inc.

Use first-fill American bourbon casks.
Donald Johnston (founder) died after tumbling into a vat of part-processed whisky.
Own maltings on site.
Johnston name still appears on label.
